MyBrainSolutions Brain Health Training Study Shows Projected Health Claims Savings
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 14, 2016 -- MyBrainSolutions, the leading employer platform for brain health, using claims data from a large EMR provider of intelligent healthcare solutions, recently unveiled promising results in claims reductions for active users of the MyBrainSolutions brain training program, used by over 40 Fortune 500 corporations as part of their health and wellness benefits solutions. In a data analysis conducted across a cohort of 800 employees that participated in MyBrainSolution’s brain health assessment and brain training platform over 2014 and 2015, usage was correlated with a 39 percent reduction in prescriptions and nearly $600 in annual health cost savings.
One of the first of its kind to show statistically significant cost reductions resulting from the use of a digital health and wellness product over the last five years, the study looked at 24 percent of the population that was identified either as highly stressed, having low resilience or poor sustained attention. Claims data in the two months prior to registration for MyBrainSolutions (MBS) was compared to claims data in the following two months after MBS gameplay and training.
A reduction was particularly evident in pharmaceutical costs in the highly stressed cohort, which dropped from $268 to $174, a projected annual health cost savings of $568 per active user.
“We are extremely excited and encouraged by these preliminary findings in health cost reductions for employees that used the MyBrainSolutions stress and resilience brain health platform,” said Dr. Evian Gordon, CEO of MyBrainSolutions. “Increasingly, employers look to wellness and digital health solutions like ours to offset the rising cost of healthcare benefits. We know from years of data that our program reduces employee stress and absenteeism, while increasing productivity, but we now also have data that shows a positive return on investment for our customers (employers) over time. We are seeing our scientifically validated brain health assessment and exercises translate to concrete health claims savings to our customers.”
Data was primarily focused on health claims data in the Midwest. “Cost savings will vary by geographic location, so we could expect to see even greater savings in higher-cost, coastal hubs such as San Francisco or New York,” said Donna Palmer, Chief Scientific Officer at MyBrainSolutions and lead scientist of the overall study.
Similarly promising findings have been recently found in correlation with MBS usage, both in the addiction space and with third-party integration partnerships.
