New Depakote Lawsuit Alleges Acute Liver and Kidney Failure: Now, AttorneyOne Can Provide Advice
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) January 21, 2014 -- AttorneyOne.com, a recognized authority on law, updated the website recently and now, can actively provide an expert opinion in view of the recent news on Depakote Side Effects and lawsuits.
On December 16, a new lawsuit was filed by a woman in Louisiana Eastern District Court (case no. 2:2013cv06672) alleging that she suffered acute liver and kidney failure from Depakote. Depakote (valproate) is a drug, manufactured by Abbott Laboratories, most commonly prescribed for psychiatric conditions like manic depressive disorder (bipolar disorder), epilepsy and to prevent migraine headaches. In the lawsuit, the plaintiff claims that she was prescribed Depakote in 2012 and, a few months later, she was diagnosed with acute liver and kidney failure.
According to court documents, on December 16, a US Magistrate Judge ordered Abbott to produce “long overdue” documents in Depakote birth defects lawsuits (US District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, case no. 13-cv-324-SCW, and 13-cv-326-SCW).
As The Wall Street Journal published on August 22, Dr. Reddy's launched a generic version of Depakote ER with a warning for life-threatening adverse reactions. The serious adverse reactions include hepatotoxicity (and fatalities), fetal risk, and pancreatitis among others.
Taking into consideration the latest developments, AttorneyOne.com updated the website and, now, can actively provide an expert opinion including how to get in contact with legal counsel easily and inexpensively in cases of severe complications, allegedly from Depakote. Sean Burke, director of Media Relations at AttorneyOne.com, adds that the relevant information illustrates that people continue to file Depakote lawsuits. For that reason," he continues, "our focus should squarely fall on getting the word out and assisting people in finding the right legal assistance.”
On April 29, 2013 several plaintiffs filed a lawsuit in Illinois Southern District Court (case no. 3:2013cv00414) alleging serious birth defects caused by their mothers’ ingestion of Depakote during pregnancy. The plaintiffs claim that they were born with “spina bifida, heart defects and neural tube defects, among other congenital malformations and birth defects” because of their mothers’ ingestion of Depakote.
AttorneyOne.com has further information on Depakote lawsuits including how to get in contact with legal counsel.
