SGT STAR Wins Intelligent Assistant Award
San Francisco, Calif. (PRWEB) September 24, 2014 -- The U.S. Army’s popular intelligent virtual assistant, SGT STAR – created by Next IT, a leading provider of intelligent virtual assistant (IVA) technology – was honored at this year’s Intelligent Assistants Conference with the first-ever Intelligent Assistant Award. The SGT STAR app brings advanced virtual assistant capabilities to anyone interested in information about the U.S. Army, on the web or mobile devices.
The Intelligent Assistant Award, presented by Opus Research, recognizes the most innovative intelligent assistant applications for mobile and enterprise customer care and self service.
“We’re thrilled to be recognized with this award, and assistants like SGT STAR represent the future of truly intelligent mobile assistants and platforms,” said Rick Collins, Next IT EVP, Enterprise Business. “Our goal in developing SGT STAR with the U.S. Army has been to deliver high quality experiences for users with an assistant that not only understands what you mean to say, but also responds with answers based on deep expertise on U.S. Army life.”
Award nominees were evaluated based on the quality of the user interface, the efficiency and knowledge of the assistant, a consistent interface and experience across platforms and devices, as well as speed and accuracy in answering questions.
Since 2006, when the U.S. Army contracted with Next IT to create Ask SGT STAR, the app has answered over 14 million questions in 3.5 million sessions and now averages 4,000 questions per day. SGT STAR, a virtual guide to U.S. Army life that engages potential recruits online, answering questions about enlistment, jobs, the ROTC, the U.S. Army Reserve and more, was the first IVA to answer questions by voice or text on mobile devices, and was also the first IVA to answer questions on Facebook.
The U.S. Army has reported that SGT STAR is able to handle the workload of approximately 55 full-time employees which yields significant cost savings. In addition, SGT STAR answers questions with an accuracy rate of over 94%.
The highly-rated SGT STAR app is available on iOS and Android devices, and has a presence on Facebook.
