Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) September 28, 2013 -- Social media agency fishbat responds to an article published by Mashable on September 26th, which details the significant change in Google’s search algorithm and how it could impact SEO campaigns.
According to the Mashable article titled “Google Reveals Major Update to Search Algorithm,” Google announced a new update to its search algorithm Thursday, which affects over 90 percent of searches. The new algorithm, dubbed “Hummingbird,” is designed to keep track with more advanced, long-term search queries. This almost undermines the simple keyword searches that Google has favored in the past.
The article says Google is planning to incorporate questions or statements into its search to garner better, more detailed results. The company is also working on voice queries, the article says. “Voice will be fundamental to building future interactions with the devices we use,” says Amit Singhal, senior vice president at Google.
Justin Maas, vice president of client relations at social media agency fishbat, says this is the first major change to Google’s algorithm since 2010. “This is big news for anyone implementing an SEO or SEM strategy,” he says. “Simple keywords searches might not create supply accurate results anymore. Google is concentrating on searches that people will want to see over a period of time. While simple keyword searches may still work, their effect might not be as significant to rankings. SEM’s and SEO directors now have to look to see if their rankings fell due to the new change.”
Maas says the change was expected. “Google likes to change its algorithm every once in a while in order to give users more accurate search results,” he says. “With no major update in three years, it was bound to happen. This just means we have to continue researching and continue altering our SEO strategies.”
