Injured Driver Rescued by Draganflyer UAV Drone

In the early hours of the morning, a driver injured in a single vehicle rollover became lost and unresponsive in the wooded area off of a Canadian highway. After an unsuccessful attempt on the part of a STARS Air Ambulance, the injured driver was rescued after being spotted by a FLIR (Forward Looking Infra-Red) camera carried by a Draganflyer X4-ES quadrotor UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle).

Draganfly Innovations' X6 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Takes Flight in Police Applications

The Draganflyer X6 UAV helicopter, designed by Draganfly Innovations Inc. for aerial photography and videography, was used by the Forensic Identification Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on February 21, 2009 to collect evidence in a homicide investigation in a remote area outside of Kenora, Ontario, Canada. This represented the first operational mission of a federally approved, commercially produced Unmanned Aerial Vehicle by an emergency service in North America.

This system is able to control an aerial or ground vehicle autonomously (without a pilot).

MIT Chooses Draganflyer Intelligent RC Helicopters for UAV Swarm
