Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association Urges President Obama to Authorize All Law Enforcement Officers to Carry Firearms Aboard Aircraft

FLEOA National President J. Adler asked President Obama to consider issuing an Executive Order authorizing all lawenforcement officers, active and retired, and certified by the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) to carry firearms aboard aircraft on all domestic flights. The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004 (PL-108-277) authorizes all law enforcement officers, active and retired, to carry firearms anywhere in the country, at any time, as long as they meet the criteria set forth in the act and qualify with their firearm on an annual basis. We maintain that all law enforcement officers who are LEOSA certified, and possess an annual medical clearance, are valuable assets that should be used to augment ourdomestic flight coverage.
FLEOA Defends The Honor And Integrity Of The Secret Service

Contrary to the inflammatory criticism levied against the Secret Service, our President was well protected throughout the function. Protection of our President does not end after magnetometer screening. While a criminal history check is an important part of the security protocol, the tactical ability of the Special Agents and Officers is of greater importance. (PRWeb Nov 30, 2009)

Today, Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association National President J.Adler denounced Representative John Duncan for his disparaging remarks made against the Federal Air Marshals Service (FAMS). During his demeaning comments delivered on June 19th, Representative Duncan referred to the FAMS as a "useless agency" (see his website article entitled "Duncan Blasts "Useless" Air Marshal Service"). He then further evidences his inability to grasp the importance of the FAMS' mission by asserting that it would be "a total waste" for the House to appropriate $860 million to the FAMS.
