Eagles Make $25 Million Commitment to Establish the Diabetes Research Center to Help Find Cure for Worldwide Diabetes Epidemic

Eagles from across North America gathered in Iowa City to mark the official naming of The Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center at the University of Iowa campus. The state-of-the-art center will host leaders in the field of diabetes research in an effort to find a cure for a disease that has risen to a worldwide epidemic. The F.O.E. has pledged to donate $25 million over a five-year period to help with these research efforts.

March Martin, 11, and Kell Martin, 8, grandsons of Oak Ridge Boy lead singer Duane Allen, stole the show in front of a capacity crowd at the famed Ryman Auditorium in Nashville when brought on stage by country performer Marty Stuart last summer. They’ve since become occasional guests on RFD-TV’s “The Marty Stuart Show” as they kick off what could become a life-long career as musicians. Saturday, March 13, 2010, March and Kell have another guest shot slated for Marty’s show.

Thirteen-year-old fiddler Elizabeth Golden is a welcome guest and audience pleaser anytime she steps onstage with The Oak Ridge Boys. Elizabeth is a third generation member of The Oaks' Family. She is granddaughter of Oaks' vocalist William Lee Golden and daughter of Chris Golden, the group's drummer. Performing with an antique fiddle made in France in 1918 and handed down from her great-grandfather, Elizabeth is a natural onstage. Debuting in Chattanooga, TN, at the "Ozark Mountain Jubilee," she has since gone on to play at least four more shows with the group.
